I forgot to mention, Volcán Concepción erupted the other day. It happened on February 9 around 11:00am. Over here on Volcán Maderas, we didn't even know about it, but I guess I can add this to my list of interesting life experiences. A tourist by the name of Emanuel Sferios took this picture:

Is everybody okay? A volcano erupting sounds like a fairly major catastrophe.
Does this occur often? Do the monkeys "sense" the disturbance?
Thanks for the comments, guys.
I don't think anybody was hurt; this time there was no lava, just ash. Alvaro told us this happens a couple of times a year. I was with the monkeys all day in the forest on the day of the eruption, and I don't recall anything being terribly out of the ordinary. I'll have to look through my data to be sure though. Maybe these monkeys, like me, were just too far away to know it was happening. Maybe monkeys on Concepción were freaking out. A long time ago, Simeón told me that if the volcano was going to erupt, the monkeys would come down to the lake. They didn't do that, so it could be this eruption just wasn't major enough.
Yes, isn't the photo amazing? If the person who took it reads this, I hope you send it in somewhere and become world famous!
